I have been printing Hahnemuehle photo rag for a couple of years now with QT.I work the print in photoshop to get the look I want t. then before printing add about 6-10% more contrast, Go to levels pump up the blacks to about 10-12., bring the whites to about 240... looks like crap now. When I get into the QT dialouge box add 15-20% more on the ink limit and print. Its all a matter of trial and error but once you get the look you like it seems to fall into a instinctual formula. This works well for me, perhaps a little too round about for you, but give it a try.
