Roy, Many thanks. I reinstalled stuff, deleted preferences, repaired hard drives, etc. Nothing worked. Very strange. I'm probably going to upgrade to Tiger in the next few weeks and that may solve everything. OTOH, it may create the unforeseen! ;-) Thanks again.
