Hi Richard,
I am using the same setup as you. You do not have to use the curve
creator if you don't want to. They are for creating custom
profiles. You can use it to create curves for unsupported inks or
papers. You can also use it for tweaking the existing curves for
your printer. I have tried to improve on the supplied curves for my
printer and I have found I am not able to improve things much. The
existing profiles work very well with my printer. There is a great
deal of variation between individual printers, so YMMV. To use the
curve creator, you need a densitometer, spectrophotometer or scanner.
(A scanner did not work well for me)

Are you finding the black is much lighter then when you use the Roark
curves with UT7? I find I can't get the blacks quite as black as
with the curves, but the linearity makes QTR worth it to me. If the
black you are seeing is as black as with the curves, that may be the
limit for EEM with Eboni. There are some papers that will print
blacker, but that is also a limitation of matt paper.

Hope this helps.

Peter
