I checked my file library, and it appears that I downloaded the PC version of Quickread back in March 2005. I just installed it. I think you're right about its pedigree re. ColorPort. And it can read without a TID, but not without a RID, and I'm assuming, not without the patches being pretty dang close to 6mm wide (but why 12mm tall?) I have several charts that are printed with 1/4 inch squares, 1280 on an 8x10 chart (although 64 squares are a binary chart ID, hopefully unique).
