Sergei, I always use tethered mode so I wouldn't have recognized the problem you had in getting Pulse to read strips without a computer connection. I've been printing the Colorport target (21x4 random neutral RGB for QTR I made with Colorport) using only black and light black inks in my Epson 4000 and no problems with strip reading and no need to print the SID in color.
