Hello, I uploaded archive PulseReader.zip with my utility that helps using X- Rite Pulse spectro with QTR. There is readme file and targets in the archive. Let me know, how it works for you, I could change some features or add more useful features. --Sergei

The latest version of Colorport, just released a few days ago, will also let you create and strip read targets for QTR using the pulse without using a TID. I use the Mac version, so don't know if the PC version also has the "switch" to ignore TIDs. http://www.xrite.com/product_overview.aspx? Carl, Thanks for the link. I installed it but I don't see any new additions that you are talking about (for Windows version). At 56MB installation kit size it has to do something better, right? I think my lowly tool is still more useful for QTR -- it does what QTR expects, and it does spot metering, which I also find useful sometimes, unfortunately I don't have Mac version for you, I don't have Mac in my fleet of computers. It probably would be easy to re- write for Mac, in my code only event synchronization is specific for Windows, and X-Rite has Mac version of SDK. --Sergei --- In QuadtoneRIP@yahoogroups.com, "Carl Schofield" <list@...> wrote: > > The latest version of Colorport, just released a few days ago, will also let you create and strip > read targets for QTR using the pulse without using a TID. Sergei, Look on the measure tab and there is a checkbox that when checked will "Ignore TID". You can save the strip read measurements as a tab delimited text file with both Lab and density data that QTR can read directly. Your utility sounds very nice but unfortunately I only have a Mac. Carl, Windows version has this checkbox on PULSE Info dialog, but it probably relates to data transfer. And it was there before the last version. I suspect that this checkbox still doesn't remove the need to use color printer -- each strip of the target generated by ColorPort has color coded SID, and instrument complains if I try to use it on my strips without the SID. To ignore SID, instrument should get strip description from the computer right before each strip, therefore I could use it with my tool only in tethered mode. If you will take strips from the archive that I uploaded, and try with ColorPort on Mac, we could find for sure does it work or not. I may get access to Mac at the end of month, we will see how portable is my code is. --Sergei --- In QuadtoneRIP@yahoogroups.com, "Carl Schofield" <list@...> wrote: > Look on the measure tab and there is a checkbox that when checked will "Ignore TID". > You can save the strip read measurements as a tab delimited text file with both Lab and > density data that QTR can read directly. Sergei, I always use tethered mode so I wouldn't have recognized the problem you had in getting Pulse to read strips without a computer connection. I've been printing the Colorport target (21x4 random neutral RGB for QTR I made with Colorport) using only black and light black inks in my Epson 4000 and no problems with strip reading and no need to print the SID in color.
