I use 1.4.10 and a 3800 connected with ethernet.  I found the easiest way is to
use Apple's "no setup" protocol called Bonjour or Rendevous.  You'll have to see
if this works with 10.3.9 and a 4800.  See the Tutorial.pdf on the
last couple of
pages.  The description is for the Airport USB port but the same idea should
work for the ethernet connection.

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
