ethernet can not find quad4800

ethernet can not find quad4800

2007-09-11 by mberman89

I down loaded 2.4.1 about a year ago

I had difficulty with the install ... and a lot of work so I let it
sit. I am trying once again to see if I can get it to work.

I figured out the install ... but I can not get it to find the
printer.

Everything showed up on "print with preview" correctly, "page set up"
was correct ... and on "print" quad rip shows up .. I set the two
curves, set the printer ... press print. And it does not find the
printer. I did a reinstall ... still can not find the printer. The
Quad4800 icon shows up in the tool bar computer starts to cycle the
print, but there is no response from the printer and then the icon
disappears.

I am using a Mac OS X 10.3.9 with an epson 4800 ... Epson K3 ink...
I have it hooked up to the computer with an ethernet cable.

If I change the printer setting in "print" from Quad4800 to
StylusPro4800-B9249F it works with all the same settings ... ugly
print but it can find the printer.

Any suggestions ... I am dyslexic so I sometimes have problems with
all the names for things on a computer program and instructions.

The only thing I can figure is I do not have the correct address .. I
am using IP address from Systems Preferences - Network - Built in
Ethernet : TCP/ IP : IP Address. Is there away to find out what the
ethernet setting is for StylusPro4800-B9249F.

any other ideas?

thanks

I may be wrong (and hopefully someone will correct me if I am,) but I
think QTR only works with USB.

I use QTR over ethernet for a 4800 and for a 7600.

No problem at all.

QTR just looks for the printer Queue by name.

Can you print to the ethernet printer with the regular driver, i.e.
not using QTR?

I use 1.4.10 and a 3800 connected with ethernet. I found the easiest way is to
use Apple's "no setup" protocol called Bonjour or Rendevous. You'll have to see
if this works with 10.3.9 and a 4800. See the Tutorial.pdf on the
last couple of
pages. The description is for the Airport USB port but the same idea should
work for the ethernet connection.

yes it works perfectly if I use it with epson ink and drive ... I
have got it so the quad shows up where it is supposed to be ... with
curves and everything in the review ... but when I go to print it can
not find the printer

Re: ethernet can not find quad4800

2007-10-23 by mberman89

Well I fooled with this for about six eight hours ... and I have only
managed to give myself a few more gray hairs .. in the end I have
pushed things along .. to a new place but I am still unable to make it
work.

Where I am now is I used rendezvous to add a printer to the printer
list in the printer set up utility. When I print with this set up it
is able to find the printer and make a print, however I am unable to
get the curve profiles to work. When I run the Profile install script
from the QTR download to get the profiles it creates a Quad4800 in the
print list.

The Quad4800 has the curves ... but can not find the printer when I
try to print with it.
The rendezvous setup has no curves but can print.

I spent hours trying to get this work ... by installing and
uninstalling with any slight variations I could think of. Frankly ...
I am a little unsure why I have a rendezvous setup that now works even
without the curves. So I am reluctant to uninstall this.

any suggestions?

michael
