2nd try - How do you reduce the 100% patch.

2008-01-04 by Richard Cooke

Hi Folks,

I originally posted this on Dec 30th but got no takers - so with
fingers crossed I'm trying this again.

I'm confused on how to reduce the amount of ink at the 100% patch
using the UT-3D inks on Costco glossy. I can't figure out how to make
a curve or ink definition (or whatever its called) myself so I copied
the UT7 IlSmoothPearl-warm.qidf and used that as a starting point.

I printed the Step-21-gray.tif file and looked at the output. It
looks to me that the 100% patch has too much ink on it since it got on
the rollers and it looked like it was puddling. So, my question to the
list is - how do I reduce the amount of ink?

The copied QIDF file has the following values:

Default Ink Limit= 80
Black Boost = 100
Black ink = not used
Cyan ink = Gray ink , Density = 100
Magenta = Toner, Density = 100, Limit = 80
Yellow = not used
Light Cyan = Gray ink, Density = 31.5
Light Magenta = Toner, Density = 30, Limit = 0
Light Black = not used

I hope this makes sense.

Thanks,
