Yes you are right it will not measure Dmax directly but I have used it to
find the MAX density........
 
Not sure if there is any correlation to LAB "L" value to density?

I have read Keith's well written article but it's on linearization of
QTR profiles. I need to measure Dmax instead of LAB reading.
