On the 4000 I'm pretty sure you can set the platen gap on the front panel of the printer. The R2400 and R1800 are a bit more vague as far as any adjustments for paper thickness or platen gap. The Epson driver has a "thick paper" checkbox hidden in a strange place but there's no indication of what that does or how I could set it in QTR. The printer manual docs don't mention paper thickness at all. In general this is an area where each printer does things differently making it more difficult for a general solution.
