Re: [QuadtoneRIP] Lion Developer Release

2011-06-09 by John Labovitz

I looked into this recently, when I first learned Lion wasn't going to support PPC-only binaries. From what I can tell, MeasureTool (and possibly other parts of ProfileMaker) are being replaced by ColorPort, which is Intel-native. (See: http://www.xrite.com/product_overview.aspx?ID=719)

However, ColorPort doesn't seem quite as general as MeasureTool, and it didn't easily recognize my target (generated by my own tools). But it's also more configurable, so may just take some futzing. It may be fine with the targets supplied with QTR.

The other idea is using Argyll's free command-line tools (see: http://www.argyllcms.com). It does support the EyeOne (at least), although it has its own ideas of target layout, and is not an easily toolkit to learn.

So there will be other options, once Lion forces discontinuation of PPC-only tools.
