I know a .qidf file is a curve file for QTR but what is a .quad file? Daniel Staver's QTR UT7 curves in the files section has both. Is .quad for Macs? Why are the .quad files so much bigger than the .qidf files? Thanks, Tom

The QIDF file is the human readable version of the curve. You could actually edit this in Notepad if you wanted. The QUAD file is the "compiled" version of the curve. -Stephen www.sbillard.org/Stephen

You would edit the QIDF file. Quadprofile converts it into the numbers that QuadToneRIP uses to map colors to inks. Take a look at the QUAD file. There is a list of numbers for each ink that represents the curve for the ink. -Stephen www.sbillard.org/Stephen

Hi Tom, For just printing you need to put the .quad files into: QuadToneRIP->Quadtone->Quad2200 This is where the curves are found for the QTRgui pulldowns. These are the actual curves i.e. tables for exactly how the inks are used. If you wanted to see how they were generated or want to modify them or make some similar new ones you put the .qidf files into: QuadToneRIP->Profiles->2200-ut7 You will need to read them into QTRgui > Curve Creation dialog page. Hi Tom,
For just printing you need to put the .quad files into:
QuadToneRIP->Quadtone->Quad2200

If you wanted to see how they were generated or want to modify them or

The QIDF files go in the Profiles folders. The QUAD files are created by the Curve Creation process and are placed in the correct folder for you. Of course, there is no particular reason why the QIDF files need to go in the Profiles folders. They can go anywhere you want to keep them. The ones that are distributed with the install program are all placed under the Profiles folders. SO If you get a QIDF file from someone, the way you get to use it as a curve is to open it in the Curve Creator and click on the Create Curve button. -Stephen www.sbillard.org/Stephen
