Using MIS inks

Using MIS inks

2013-01-17 by frankstearns@rocketmail.com

I have an Epson R1800 and just installed MIS UTB (3) inks.
My OS is Windows 7 64bit. I use Photoshop 64bit with Silver Efex Pro 2 to process my prints. I have been usuing the Epson inks with satisfactory results. Since I've upgraded to the MIS inks when I print a calibration test print, I tried using both the Quad R1800 and Quad R1800-3MK printing model, the 3 black inks barely show up. I also can't get a print from already processed TIF files when I drag them into Quadtone RIP.
What to do to resolve this?

That's what I generally call the 3-MK inkset.

See http://www.paulroark.com/BW-Info/R1800.htm for general information.

For my brief discussion of the B&W workflows using QTR, see
http://www.paulroark.com/BW-Info/R1800-Workflow.pdf

See also Tom Moore's "QuadToneRIP User Guide.pdf" that is included with the
download.

To the extent profiles are from me, they were done with an earlier Windows
setup. As far as I know Win 7 is totally compatible.

[I don't use this software, so cannot comment.]

The profiles I wrote for the 3-MK process all start with "3MK-..." To see
what is there, use the Curve Creator (QTR Tools > Curve Creator) and go to
the "R1800-3mk" folder.
