New installation issue. R1800 M/L 10.8.x

2013-01-26 by Ashley Drees

Epson R1800 - need to print some B+W images.

Discovered Quadtone, installed and set as the tutorial explained.

All seems OK, but when sending the first test print to the printer, it starts to print - giving "printing" percentages in the dialog box - then just holds/hangs with the legend that the printer is "in use".

The R1800 is working fine, attached to an Airport Extreme, and prints from everything i have tried. The IP address i have is from the airport config. MBP 15 3.06 Ghz Core 2 duo with 8 gig mountain lion 10.8.2 . Gigabit network with cisco switches Apple WAP, using Aperture and iPhoto to try and print.

I tried to install manually (using Bonjour) , but could not get Quad Rip to show any curves.. even when i copied the name exactly (cut and paste) from the auto install to the manual.

Any help on this would be helpful, the need to be able to print B+W is upon me.

See my latest post about UT14 on a 1500 in Mountain Lion which is near this thread, it may help.

Thanks all.

I reset the print system and went back to basics.. the read me and checking all items.

I now have a printer working over bonjour using the QTR, so far i have only printed a couple of copies but it has the look of a real B+W print.

I think i was making a mistake with the printer name for manual install... so, in my case, QuadR1800 is all that is needed.. NOT the QuadR1800-3MK that it was calling itself when installe from the .command file.

thanks very much for listening to me here, now for some testing...

Yes, it prints without fail... and is nice black and white.. but the ink
is not fixed.. not sure quite what that is about... on glossy paper, i can
just smudge it off... i will have to explore more but perhaps it needs
gloss optimiser or to be in gloss black rather than matt or something i
have not set-up right.. anyway, much nearer than i was before.

The curves are all for Matt. And using the R1800 Standard profiles, that
is all I seem to have. I DO have some good Matt paper, but I do want gloss.
What next I wonder.
