Just starting out using UT-14 lnks. Downloaded the profiles, set up a folder in QTR. Question is "How to convert the text files into QDIF". Help for a newbe?

Robert,
If these are the files that I made, the ones with the .txt extension are the qdif files. The only difference is that macs use ".txt" and windows uses ".qdif". I think that all that you have to do is change the extension for Windows. Then, you will need to use the Curve Creator program to create and install the ".quad" files.
I hope this helps,
David

Hi David..
I have Windows Vista, and it doesn't recognize .qidf files..I've never been able to utilize your files for toning on my MIS UT1400 machine. Does ANYONE know how to get Windows to recognize a ".qidf" file?..It would be really nice to be able to go from warm-cool on QTR..Maybe I've just been doing something wrong for the last three years or so, but I'm only able to use "BO files" on QTR, and "".ACV" curves from Paul Roark using the Epson driver..
TIA,
Eddie ----- Original Message -----

Edward, have you read Tom Moore's guide to using QTR on the PC at http://www.quadtonerip.com/User%20Guide.pdf ? Its a bit dated (!) but does cover using qidf files to create the curve files qtr actually uses. Also covered at http://www.luminous-landscape.com/tutorials/qtr.shtml qidf files are not directly usable, you have to convert them using the curve creator On 08/02/2013 16:50, edward wiseman wrote: > > Hi David.. > > I have Windows Vista, and it doesn't recognize .qidf files..I've never > been able to utilize your files for toning on my MIS UT1400 machine. > Does ANYONE know how to get Windows to recognize a ".qidf" file?..It > would be really nice to be able to go from warm-cool on QTR..Maybe > I've just been doing something wrong for the last three years or so, > but I'm only able to use "BO files" on QTR, and "".ACV" curves from > Paul Roark using the Epson driver.. > > TIA, > > Eddie > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: David > To: QuadtoneRIP@yahoogroups.com <mailto:QuadtoneRIP%40yahoogroups.com> > Sent: Friday, February 08, 2013 10:54 AM > Subject: [QuadtoneRIP] Re: Epson 1400 UT-14 > > Robert, > If these are the files that I made, the ones with the .txt extension > are the qdif files.
