Epson R1800 black prints have a brown hue(?)

All, I have just tested the latest beta of QuadtoneRip with an Epson R1800. Setting the blend to 100% black (with both blends set to the same 'black' setting). The print I get is quite warm, about a quarter of the way to sepia (a bit like a time warn poorly washed print). Is this what is to be expected from the Matt Black in the R1800? Also, it is not clear from the documentation whether Matt Black or Photo Black is used if I were to print on gloss paper. Thank you for any comments. E
