Wait to do Mavericks update?

Wait to do Mavericks update?

2013-10-24 by <essessem@...>

I'm excited about the free update Apple is offering, but I don't know how close QTR is to being supported by it. Someone, enlighten me!

I did did the update to 10.9 and qtr does not work. Tried to reinstall qtr and still no dice. Roy and I emailed and he said he was going to look into it asap.

The only other thing I've noticed that doesn't work is epson scan.

Other than that, all good. Unfortunately I use both qtr and epson scan almost daily.

If everything works well, why update?

If you out of curiosity wants to try the new OS X Version, install it on a second or an external hard drive and give it a shot... (press "alt" while booting to chose boot disk/system).

JF--My laptop is also used for freelance graphics work, so I need to keep up to date. BTW sounds like you gave me instrux for Wintel machine!

Imo, with apple, it's smarter to do updates and incrementally work through these small headaches. Usually it's a half day or late night trouble shooting, or buying a new cable adapter, or whatever it takes to keep up with "progress." Of course I've a back up computer to keep printing off of in the meantime.

I used to be married to the don't update school, running old gear on old software, and it was great until a piece of the kit that was unsupported broke and then it was a much bigger problem b/c the entire system essentially had to be replaced, reworked, + relearned.

I run on the setup I have until something is no longer possible, apple are really rude with their dev tool updates forcing developers forward not seldom without any backward compatibility, in that matter, actually even Microsoft are WAY better than apple has ever been....
