QTR and Epson 1410

2014-05-20 by zillad01@...

Has anyone had any success with installation of QTR, on a Mac running Mavericks, or rather the install script for the 1400 being used for the Epson 1410?

I looked at a couple of posts and the advice was to clean install after renaming the printer 'Quad1400-MIS' in the 'Printers & Scanners' section of System Preferences.

However, it seems the name is being held somewhere else as, even if the new name is the only printer available, the terminal install script reports, 'Cannot find an Epson USB or Bonjour printer with the name 1400'.

I am very keen to use Quad Tone RIP as there are few RIPs available, especially at a price one can afford. Also, I don't know how a company like Epson can sell a product that doesn't produce what is claimed (a black and white print) thus introducing the need for a third party product.

First make sure you have latest version 2.7.5
Delete whatever Quad printers you have in Print&Scan.

Then go to the curve folder.
Rename Install1430-MIS=1400.command to Install1410-MIS=1400.command
(change the 1430 to 1410)

Then the install should work on your printer.
