Generic Curves for QTR

2016-01-26 by exe.rpd@...

I have used QTR for a long time. Setup with OEM Epson inks (P800 currently). Have always only adjusted those options available on the main interface. I found that there apparently are some generic curves available based upon some common papers.

Can someone tell me where these are located? Do I have to download them separately? At this moment I am specifically looking for "MEntradaNatural: Moab Entrada Natural paper" profile.

I am on the latest 2,7,6 version of QTR for Windows and have re-downloaded QTR several time thinking I may have not picked the correct options upon download. All to no avail. I am sure this is very simple, but I cannot figure it out. In the drop-downs for Curves 1, 2, 3 I only have several options for Enhanced Matt, RAW, and HMbaryta.

Thanks!

Those are not generic profiles, and they are specific to the printer they were made for. If you want to use them as a starting point for other profiles you will need to move them from one of the other profiles folders to the one for your P800.

A word or caution though: the inks are different for the P-series printers, and the relative gray values (as well as the gray curve/linearization adjustments) are going to be wrong. Trying to use the wrong curves is going to give results that are not as good as what can be created with well made profiles, and the prints won't be an accurate representation of what the products are capable of producing.

I've only had the P800 for about a month now, but Im trying to build a library of P800 curves as I make them. I can't afford to buy every type of paper that is out there, but if people want to send me a few sheets of their favorite papers email me privately and we can work something out. I'll post what I have later this week.

Thanks Richard!
Makes sense. I opened QTR and changed the printer type, and there are the different generic profiles. Guess this printer is just too new to already have some generic profiles.......
