Does the windows QTR download work on windows 10?

Re: [QuadtoneRIP] Windows 10

Yes, but the Curve Creator "show curve" does not work. You can still see a curve by right clicking on the profile in the main GUI curve selection box.

I will never convert my Win 7 machine to Win 10, however. QTR definitely is better on Win 7.

Thanks, Paul
I'm on the same path to keep Win7 forever. Do have a problem on my laptop, which is also Win7. When I try to launch the curve generator for the Quad9900 print, I get a memory read error. But all works fine when I'm using the Quad3880. I'm thinking the issue must be with the installed Epson driver for the 9900. Somehow the driver has been corrupted. Anyway I'll chase it down.
Again thanks for the info on Win10.
Cheers,
John

Hi John,

The issue is the QTRgui does not handle 10 ink printers. If you can get away with
just 8 inks use the 9890 driver instead. (note this is only an issue with the
Curve Create and graphing -- printing with existing 10-ink curves does work)

Roy,
Thanks for pointing out the situation. Yes I can work with 8 inks. I have been using QTR on 3800 and 3880 printers for some time now, primarily to make digital negatives.
Does the 9890 printer driver work with the 9900 printer hardware? I use the curve creator to modify the ink profile, set the gray curve, and install the corresponding Curve. I don't know how to install a Curve on a PC without using Curve Creator.
But the good news is I have eliminated the laptop hardware from the problem.
Thanks
John

Should work just fine.

Hi Roy,
I downloaded and started install for the 9890. I plug in the 9900 and turn it on. The get the Epson dialog :Epson Printer Utilities Setup". But I get a printer not found message. I try to manually find the printer but not able to do so. What am I missing here?
BTW I unistalled the 9900 print driver before starting the installation.
I must be missing something. Your thoughts?
Cheers,
John

You still need the Epson 9900 driver. This is what actually connects to printer.
So setup the Epson 9900 driver as you always have.

In QTRgui you just need to select Quad9890 instead of Quad9900 as the printer model.
(the gui tries to anticipate which model but just change it)

Note that the curves will all be under the 9890 folders now instead of 9900 folders.

Paul
Has there been an update to the status of QTR on win10 since May 2016?
John

Re: Windows 10

There was a minor update that fixed the glitch with the curve creator on W10. That's the only change that I can recall. At a quick glance I can't see when that was. It may have been since May 2016. Of course there are occasional releases for new printers, but I don't recall when the last of those was.

Is anyone using QTR with windows 10? If so, how have you managed to get it working properly?

Thanks

Yes using it very successfully, need to run the QTRgui as administrator, in some cases it will put your quad files in user\appdata.. Make sure that you are using the latest version, has some Win 10 fixes.

Thanks Russell. Ran it as such and still "does not print TIFF '' but accepts a JPEG? Either way will not print either.

Sorry about your problems. I flatten my tiffs, resize to the exact size I am printing and 360 dpi for my Epson printer and save with no compression. I only use QTR for DTP photogravure so my experience is limited. Were you able to print with an earlier version of windows, if so use the virtual machine available in windows and print with that earlier version.

I am still running windows 7 on my desktop PC; no problem with QTR. I am experimenting qtr w/windows 10 on a laptop to see what can be done with windows 10 eventually running on my desktop.
Will look into this Virtual Machine. Thank you.

QTRGui works just fine on Windows 10 for printing, including properly prepared TIF files. And you should not have to run it "as Administrator" to print.

I suspect there is something weird in your setup or in how you are trying to print. It would help if you could provide more information here about what you are doing. Describe your machine, QTR installation steps, show QTRGui screen shots indicating error messages, etc.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
