I'm not quite sure what you're asking here! Are you talking about the brightness and contrast sliders in Lightroom, or the various adjustments you can make to a finished image in QTR?

Let's assume you meant in Lightroom (and by the way, are you using an older version of Lightroom because Brightness has not been a slider for a couple versions).

Anyway, the basic approach is you get the image to look how you want it in Lightroom, and then send it to QTR. In Windows that involves exporting as a TIF and manually printing through QTR. As I understand it, in Mac you're going to want to print via Roy's Print Tool; I think there are issues printing directly via the Mac printer drivers. Mac folk can explain.

You can adjust midtones and shadows in finished prints through QTR, but I prefer to get it right in Lightroom and make no further adjustments in QTR *except* ones relating to curve blending. For this to work, it's essential that you soft proof in Lightroom so that you get as close as possible to "what you see is what you get".

For all of this to work, you need a properly calibrated monitor, and you need to be sure that your QTR curves are properly linearized.

I hope this helps.

Rob,

Thank you for your comments. As noted in the Subject I am referring to the sliders in Lightroom CC 2105. I can print directly from Lightroom CC to a "QTR printer" via Print Settings. I do not use Roy's print tool.

Typically I do all of my QTR printing from Photoshop (currently CC 2015) however, because I wanted to print two up on large paper I decided to try printing from Lightroom.

May I assume that I that in summary your response might be that the sliders have no effect a print to a "QTR printer" from Lightroom.

Thanks again.

I don't use a Mac or print from Lightroom but I am a believer in experimentation. Just make a radical change with the sliders... one that should be obvious if the print is being effected by the changes.. and make a print to compare with a print that hasn't had any changes.

Will,

I noticed your subject line after sending... Oops.

Rather than give you bad advice I'm going to defer to a Mac user! The procedure for Windows is completely different because QTR has a standalone interface in Windows, and in Mac it's a printer driver.
