How to Calibrate with OSX

How to Calibrate with OSX

2006-08-26 by Mr_Misty_44

I am running OS 10.4 with QTR 2.4.2b. I cannot for the life of me get
the software to do the calibration. Could someone walk me through the
procedure. I start with a premade profile . Change the Calibrate= to a
YES. I also get rid of the LINEARIZE=. I remove the gray separation
numbers from the K and LK. Please don't ask if I've done this or that.
I would greatly appreciate someone writing down the exact procedure
they have found to do the Calibration. I have a Windows version hooked
up to my 2200 and it works like a dream. I have a Mac hooked up to my
7600 at another location and that is what I'm having trouble with.
Please .

P.S. Would someone with some programing savy make a GUI for the OSX
version with a graphing. If Stephen can do it for Windows why not
someone for the Mac.

QTR on two 2200s-possible?

2006-09-27 by john eckenrode

Hello All
I have two 2200s I'd like to hook up to the same
computer and drive both with QTR. I can't seem to make
it work. I am on a Mac, newest system, newest QTR. The
printer setup utility will only set up one QTR
printer. I tried to name the printers differently, but
that didn't work.
So does anybody know 1.) Can this be done? 2.) How to
do it.
I searched the archives and could not find any hints.
Thanks in advance for any insight.

I have two 2200s connected to my Win2000 PC and I didn't have to do
anything, the second one just showed up in the drop down list of printers.
Mine are both connected through USB. I haven't tried any other
combinations.

Maybe it's a Mac bug? :-) Under Windows, the 2 printers generally show up
as "Epson Stylus Photo 2200" and "Epson Stylus Photo 2200(1)" or similar -
slightly differing names.

Hi John,

Sure, you can do it.
Others have mentioned the PC, but Mac setup is just a little different.

The first requirement is to run the Install2200 script with only one
printer
online at a time. This way the script will attach to the printer you
want.
If you have different inksets, you'll already have different printer
names
so there's no conflict -- i.e. Quad2200 and Quad2200-NK7.
If you have the same inksets there's a little more to do:
Drag the whole 2100-2200-UC folder from the download disk onto
your disk so you can change things (it's read-only in the download).
There's an "Install2200" script in the folder, Duplicate (apple-D) the
script. Now just change the name to something like Install2200-one
and Install2200-two. You'll be able to run the 2 install scripts and
thereby create printers "Quad2200-one" and "Quad2200-two".
Be sure you just add dash and regular letters/numbers after. The
"2200" and the "-" are important.

Thanks Roy
The first step you mentioned was the key.

21 or 52 or 100 steps for profile

2007-02-13 by john eckenrode

In anybody's experience does a greater number of grey
step samples (ie 52 or 100) help during the Profile
creation step of QTR.
For curve creation using more than 21 steps has always
been no good for me, 21 works best. I also profile
with 21 steps, but was wondering if anyone had better
results using more steps. Just curious.
