QTR-Quadtone RIP

While printing an A3 image on an Epson R1800 using QTR via a Mac, I have twice had the 
printer stop suddenly, with the following error message appearing:
"The process "usb" stopped unexpectedly with status 237".

When I asked the driver to continue, the message was "Printer not respondin".

Does anybody know what causes this problem, which is expensive in media?

Hi all, 

I've had the same problem as akominatus, but with other numbers (81, 237, etc).
I'm having a hard time determining what the problem is, but i suspect it has to do with 
custom paper sizes.

Runnin a mac g4 450 with OS 10.4.8 an the latest drivers from QTR on an otherwise 
functioning R1800 with NK7 inks. It was working well for about 15 test prints over the first 
few months, then it lay dormant for a 6 or so months, then it started giving me trouble 
recently.

I'm using a half-sheet of 13" x 19" (6.5" x 19"), printing rotated 90 deg in quark, with a 
custom paper size, just as before. I canl print my file one letter paper pro'd down to 25% 
just fine., so it's not the file, as far as i can tell. I can't print out of quark or from a pdf, but 
if i rasterize a page and print from photoshop, it seems to print, but that's an unwieldy 
workaround for what will be 150 prints.

It won't print with the standard epson driver either. below is my diagnostic info.

I can't think of any more info to give, please let me know if there's anything else that 
would assist in diagnosing the problem...

Any help would of course be appreciated...

There are two things I can think that you should check.

1) If you have the firewire port plugged in as well as the
USB port that can give intermittent communication problems.

2) I notice you've got Media errors from the Epson driver so
maybe there's something jammed in the feed mechanism.
