This NoBlack profile was mentioned in an earlier post from Carl Schofield. Can somebody direct me to the place where I can find this profiles or learn more about it? Perhaps this is the solution for my bronzing on Epson SemiGloss with UC- inks? Any other suggestion what to do and/or use is very welcome. remko

The NoBlack profile (for Epson 2200/2100) is in the profiles folder for the 2200/2100 printers with the install script. I don't know if it will help with UC bronzing on semigloss or not - give it a try or better yet get rid of the UC inks and use the MIS Pro or K4 inks instead. Carl

after installing the latest version I found the profiles. I was still working under an older version. After giving it a try I will change to MIS Pro with a CIS-system. Carl, when using the MISPro ink do I have to choose the MIS UT7 profiles? remko --- In QuadtoneRIP@yahoogroups.com, Carl Schofield <list@...> wrote: > > The NoBlack profile (for Epson 2200/2100) is in the profiles folder > for the 2200/2100 printers with the install script. No, the MIS Pro inks are equivalent to the Epson UC inks. Use the UC profiles and re-linearize as necessary. Carl

I still had a lot of bronzing with the MIS-PRO inks. I got really good results replacing the yellow cartridge in the MIS PRO inkset with gloss optimizer though. I have some QTR profiles for that on my site. Now I use the UT7 inkset with gloss optimizer in the yellow position. No bronzing. -- Daniel Staver http://daniel.staver.no

Daniel, what is the reason you changed back to the UT7 inks? I assumed the MISpro is a newer inkset? and if you use the GLOP in the yellow position can you swob between the GLOP and Yellow as with the Photo- Matte- and Eboni-black inks? --- In QuadtoneRIP@yahoogroups.com, "Daniel Staver" <daniel@...> wrote: > > I still had a lot of bronzing with the MIS-PRO inks. The MIS Pro inkset is a color inkset and has only one gray ink, like the original Ultrachrome inkset. The UT7 inkset has two carbon gray inks and two cool toner inks. This primarily gives smoother highlights. The UT7 inkset also has MUCH less bronzing and gloss differential on glossy papers than the Ultrachrome inkset or the MIS PRO inkset. It's comparable to what you will get with the new KR inkset in the new Epson 2400 and x800 printers. If you add gloss optimizer in the yellow position even the little gloss differential that's left is removed. I don't print much color anymore, so I prefer to use a dedicated BW inkset in my printer. The UT7 inks has worked reliably for me for a long time now, and I've built a collection of profiles for the papers I use most, so I'm reluctant to switch to anything else. It's easy to switch the cartridges back and forth. You will need to print a few sheets of yellow when you switch to GLOP to get rid of the yellow tone. -- Daniel Staver http://daniel.staver.no
