Thanks Roy, the new features look really good. I'm having problems though with qtrgui (and therefore this is addressed more to Stephen)- after a short while using the program the dropdown boxes such as the paper size selector and the curve selectors don't display any items although you can see their outline. The "dynamic rolldown" also seems to function erratically even if you untick it in options. The only fix is to restart the program but after a couple of alterations the problems recur. I'm using Win XP SP2. Howard Roy Harrington wrote: > Check out the new release > see http://www.quadtonerip.com > > Roy Harrington > -- Howard Shaw glassman@... www.howardshaw.org

Roy, The new release looks great. Thanks. I am particularly pleased to see support for the Epson 3800. However, I see no curves for it as yet. Also, the link to the "Calibration" pdf on the QTR website appears to be broken. George... --- In QuadtoneRIP@yahoogroups.com, "Roy Harrington" <roy@...> wrote:

thank you for the update. on the immediate side, i especially appreciate that you've moved the options in Printer Features to QuadTone RIP. now everything is in view. i also appreciate that i can adjust, for example, Ink Limits in increments or decrements of one. overall, i think the user interface is easier to follow. thanks again. sincerely, daniel chow

Hi All, This looks nice, I just got a 3800 & converted my 4000 to K7 inks. Will I be able to have 2 QuadRip printers set up? One for the 3800 with Ultrachrome & one for the 4000 with the K7 inks?? Can I load both sets of ink profiles? Thanks, Skip

I've only had limited access to 3800 so haven't any curves yet. I hope to get a few in the near future. Fixed the pdf links. Roy --- In QuadtoneRIP@yahoogroups.com, "George Butch" <GButch@...> wrote:

You'll just have two printer names. QTR Profiles are also per printer so they are totally separate. Roy

Howard, Whatever information you can provide to Stephen to duplicate the problem would be very helpful. Thanks, Roy --- In QuadtoneRIP@yahoogroups.com, Howard Shaw <glassman@...> wrote:

Release notes indicate that: QTR-Create-ICC.exe QTR-Create-ICC.RGB.exe QTR-Linearize-Data.exe should be version 2.5.0.0, but only 2.4.2.0 versions are installed. As a check, I deleted the 3 files and reinstalled QTR 2.5.0 with the same result. What did I mess up? --- In QuadtoneRIP@yahoogroups.com, "Roy Harrington" <roy@...> wrote:

No, you didn't mess up. I did. Those were last minute updates that were just the version number and a minor change -- no functionality difference. Somehow they missed getting moved over. Have you got "Minimize to System Tray" set? There seems to be some problems with the controls I am using when QTRgui minimizes to the System Tray. As for the Dynamic Rolldown. What happens when the option is unchecked? You should have to click to roll down or roll up. -Stephen www.sbillard.org/Stephen

Oh darn, I fixed some of the max length paper sizes and some pro printer values come out a decimal value. The easy workaround is to edit the PPD file for the printer -- see PPDs/Quad4800.ppd -- just take off the ".6" on the number. I have uploaded a new QTRgui which will accept the more refined max length parameters. No need to modify the PPDs. -Stephen www.sbillard.org/Stephen

Heey.. Thanks Roy!! I immediately tried the 3 curves & split tone feature. That seems to work great! It will take some time to build up experience but this the type of UI that seems the logical one indeed. I was immedieately capable of refining some of my earlier split-tone and warm-selenium experiments further. I'm building some ideas for a workflow, but start another thread on that. Great addition to QTR! Joost

Yes, "Minimize to System Tray" definitely has something to do with it as I don't get the missing dropdown box item problem if I untick this. (Another symptom of this problem is that the "Advanced Adjustments" adjustable areas also completely disappear on occasion). I think the rolldown wackiness is just because the "hot" area triggering the expanding & disappearing of these areas is actually larger than just the arrow so an accidental click on a seemingly blank bit of the interface can trigger it. There are also extra hotspots such as the area level with "Curve Blending" that have no arrow. One other little change is that Better/Faster has now become Bi-directional/Unidirectional. Am I correct in thinking that UniDirectional is the equivalent of the old "Better"? Thanks Howard Stephen Billard wrote: > Have you got "Minimize to System Tray" set? I have found that if I exercise all the controls before minimizing to the tray, things seem to work. However, that is not a simple thing to do. Best is to not minimize to the tray. Yes, Unidirectional was the old Better. Roy changed the text for a few of the parameters to be more descriptive of what is going on. -Stephen www.sbillard.org/Stephen

Check two things: Is the image centered? If not it may be overlapping the printable space on one margin. Is the image scaled? If it is over 100% the image may not fit within the printable margins. -Stephen www.sbillard.org/Stephen
