Network printing: OS X + Epson 2200 + QuadToneRip = nogo

Network printing: OS X + Epson 2200 + QuadToneRip = nogo

2007-06-17 by dupreez_j

Hello, I am new to the QuadToneRip which I am running on my OS X with
PSCS3. My Epson 2200 is connected to my intranet using an Airport
Express base station.

Note that I can print to the printer using the regular Epson driver
without any problems. However, when I try and print using the
Quad2200 driver i get the following message: "Network host XXX.XXX.X.X
is busy, down or unreachable: will retry in 30 seconds"

Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

Possible related issues, for which I do not have an answer:
1. I did pay the required $50 for the RIP, so I am really miffed it
did not "work as advertised" - is there anyway to check that my
version of the software is indeed active, do I have input a code
somewhere to activate it? If so, where do ii find the code (purchase
via paypal etc)

2. The print dialog has the following reminder: "Did you disable color
management in the print dialog?" - How am I supposed to do this in
PSSC3 when you I am printing using the RIP as there is no color
management settings listed under the print dialog associated with the
 RIP.

Kind regards

I think the Bonjour info in Tutorial.pdf should handle the network
printer issue.

They is no separate activation needed to run QTR. I received the paypal
confirmation.

The QTR driver has no built in color management -- it's expected that you handle
the color management in Print with Preview.

Morning all (at least in Hong Kong!)

I do indeed run OSX Tiger and I did set up as per the instructions in the
tutorial. Any thoughts?

Johan

Run the DiagnosticScript in the download. It'll popup a large text
page. Copy and
paste all the text and email it to me. I'll see if I can see what's happening.

Thanks Roy,

One thing; for Print Setup Utility / Printer List / Quad2200-K7, the
ColorSync utility is grayed out, whereas it works for the Epson Stylus Photo
2200 - Is this relevant?

Epson 4000 printing issue

2007-06-19 by Andrew Darlow

Hello:

I was recently doing some printing for a client with the latest QTR
version for Mac OSX on a Stylus Pro 4000 (matte paper). The printer
was connected via USB to a G5. The job gets sent fine and the paper
loads fine from the paper cassette. Then, as the print head is just
about to print and it ejects the paper. This is on letter-size paper.

Using the Epson driver, there was no problem with paper loading or
printing. I'm curious if this is a documented problem and if it could
be related to firmware or some other hardware or software issue. I
uninstalled and re-installed QTR, and then re-loaded the profiles via
the install script, but that did not help. I also plugged the USB
cable (6 foot) directly into the G5 instead of through the Hub.

I restarted Photoshop CS2 but did not restart the computer because it
was importing files into Lightroom at the time. I did not have a
chance to try printing after the Lightroom import was done because
the import took many hours. I am mentioning this just in case this is
a common fix.

I will ask my client to try printing again tomorrow after restarting,
but for now, I thought I'd ask here.

Thanks for any advice,

Andrew Darlow

Re: [QuadtoneRIP] Network printing: OS X + Epson 2200 + QuadToneRip = nogo

2007-06-19 by Johan du Preez

Hi all,

Ok, I have been tinkering all day and eventually solved my problem as
follows:

   1. restart the network - my intranet is complicated so I just followed
   the BRS routine
   2. reset and reconfigured the Airport base station connected to my
   Epson2200
   3. deleted all the printers listed in the Printer Setup Utility
   4. reinstalled all the printers, including the Quad2200

And I am in business; Roy, thanks for your patience, It is well
appreciated! I now look forward to many happy hours of printing - I will
have to do the baby photos first to get my parents off my back!

Cheers until later
Johan

Re: [QuadtoneRIP] Network printing: OS X + Epson 2200 + QuadToneRip = nogo

2007-06-21 by Roy Harrington

Hi Johan,

In looking at your Diagnostic output there's a line:

>> device for Quad2200-K7: lpd://192.168.1.6

This would indicate you set up an IP network printer giving an IP
number (192.168.1.6)
Unfortunately these are often dynamically set so it may be different next time.

The Bonjour setup gets around this by re-establishing connection each time.
When you setup with bonjour you ought to see an entry like the following:

>> device for Quad2200-K7:
mdns://Stylus%20Photo%202200._pdl-datastream._tcp.local./?bidi

The "mdns" is for bonjour, "lpd" or "ipp" is for IP setup, "usb"
would be for USB port.

Re: [QuadtoneRIP] Epson 4000 printing issue

2007-06-22 by Roy Harrington

There was a problem with OS X 10.3 Panther and the 4000 USB but I don't
know of any issue if you are runnin 10.4 Tiger (which I assume you are running
since you have Lightroom).
