Hi, in solid black areas I'm getting roller marks from QTR but not from the Epson driver, on my Epson 2100. The only possible reasons I can think of are a difference in ink load and a difference in print speed, perhaps. However, while reducing the link limit in QTR did reduce the problem, it did not remove it. Can anyone please suggest a cause or something to try to rectify this? Many thanks, Richard -- http://smallfield.vze.com

I am having a similar problem on my Epson 2200 except the ink spots are on the edges of the paper at the end of the printing. And mine also does not do it with Epson printing. -- Robert In a message dated 6/16/2008 5:30:46 P.M. Richard, What paper? Ink or Epson pigment? Here's a fantasy/guess: perhaps paper is wet for a shorter time with Epson driver vs QTR, making surface delicate longer. Here's real experience: You might try elevating paper immediately at the the exit rollers...not just lifting the tray... a paper box that happens to be about as high as the exit rollers solved that problem for me, when using an otherwise mark-prone fibre paper...the idea is to prevent paper that's still damp/fragile from having to arch downward onto the plastic tray... You might also compare back loading to top loading... The two tricks together have allowed my 2200 to print some of the newer fibre papers without mars/roller-marks.

Robert, Your experience is common when top-loading heavy papers (try back-loading even though it's slower) and also due to poor coating quality of the most heavily promoted baryta papers (results in edge curvature that was never seen in traditional baryta-coated silver paper). You should also wipe out ink buildups inside the printer...try running faintly damp (misted) wasted prints through the printer repeatedly. --- In QuadtoneRIP@yahoogroups.com, ifotogu@... wrote: > > I am having a similar problem on my Epson 2200 except the ink spots are on > the edges of the paper at the end of the printing.
