Cannot print using K7 inks on MAC w/ OS 10.5.4 and Epson 2200

Cannot print using K7 inks on MAC w/ OS 10.5.4 and Epson 2200

2008-07-24 by teafree3

I have in the past printed using this computer and this printer with the RIP, but not in OS
10.5.3.
When the rips show in print and fax and are selected the printer just does not print, it doesn't
do anything.
No matter what we do it won't communicate with the printer using the RIP in any form. It
sees the ink levels and it can do the tests but it won't print with the RIP. It will print using the
Epson standard driver.
I have uninstalled the RIP numerous times- I have trashed it when it didn't disappear- I have
emptied the trash restarted and re installed the rip. Nothing seems to work.
Help!
Or reply to teafree@...- I don't access yahoo address.

Thank you ,Tina

Tina - I had this problem and the only thing that fixed it was to install an older version of Quad RIP and install the newer version of Quad RIP. Try messing around (INSTAL/UNINSTALL) between the two until you see it in your PRINT SETTING window. I have no idea what's going on, but I got it to work.

Good luck,
Mike

Leopard 10.5 requires the latest version of QuadToneRIP -- version 2.6.1
The old versions do not work.

Hi Tina,

Maybe you have both 2.5 and 2.6 loaded and they are conflicting.
Open System Prefs > Print & Fax and see if you have QuadToneRIP 2.5 or 2.6

It might be best if you just delete the printers and re-install them.
Be sure to use:
/Applications/QuadToneRIP/Profiles/2100-2200-K7/Install2200-K7.command

If you are still having trouble run DiagnosticScript and send me the
text output.

2.6.1... I cleared anything with QTR off the main drive and all the backup drives by hand
and with the uninstaller. I am running time machine so there could be a conflict in my
backups but when a search is done it doesn't come up... I reinstalled 2.6.1 and nothing
comes up in print fax but the normal (epson) print drivers. When I search for more
printers nothing when I hit the + button nothing...
any other possibilities? Earlier today it did come up but wouldn't print- so I am going in
the wrong direction...

Thank you- which versions did you use? 2.6.0?

Re: [QuadtoneRIP] Re: Cannot print using K7 inks on MAC w/ OS 10.5.4 and Epson 2200

2008-07-25 by Roy Harrington

Tina,

So far so good but there is no QTR printer installed. The printer
would be named Quad2200-K7.
All you have are Epson drivers installed.

So I said before you need to run the printer/ink install script:

/Applications/QuadToneRIP/Profiles/2100-2200-K7/Install2200-K7.command

Then print to Quad2200-K7
