New Piezography Type 2 custom curves are now available

Piezography is making on a custom basis, a new type of curve for Piezography K7 and K6 QTR users. Type 2 curves are intended for photographers who want a linearization that includes a beefy bottom-end that more closely assimilates a contrasty display. I still make regular curves which are straight line from dMin to dMax. The Type 2 curve is made from measuring a different target than the regular curve. The resultant curve is used exactly the same as a regular curve, but it produces a different printed result. If you can already differentiate 256 gray levels on your display and see detail in the RGB 0 - 5 range - a type 2 is definitely not for you. Can't see differentiations below 10 it could be. Higher than that its a definite. If you think your Piezography prints are lighter in the shadows than your display - that is the tell-tale sign. The link below will show a graph of the two linerizations and should make visual sense if my explanation does not. There is an instruction manual and a linearization checker in the download. You do not have to buy a custom curve to download the manual and linearization checker. Reading more about it might give you the understanding if its something you wish to purchase. But, you will need Excel and a spectro or a densitometer to make use of the spreadsheet. The spreadsheet will give you an indication of the quality of your linearization. Should work well with any b&w system for that matter, as a method to see if you're linear. There is a link to the download on the description page below. The download also includes the master curves and the two different targets. I don't expect everyone to agree with my opinions about calibrating a display to the contrast of a printing system. This is why I am offering a Type 2 curve for those who prefer a brighter calibration or who simply can not attain the quality of calibration required to preview Piezography as it prints. But, I also go to great lengths to explain how displays can be (and used to be) calibrated in the manual in order to get the most out of a regular Piezography curves system. http://shopping.netsuite.com/s.nl/c.362672/it.A/id.3682/.f?sc=15&category=1238 excuse the cross-posts but Piezography users are scattered in four different lists.
