Wired behavior...matte vs glossy

Wired behavior...matte vs glossy

2010-09-29 by Andre

I print UT14 on a Mac with the latest QTR. Printing QTR with IGFS curves on luster paper, blacks are ok, excellent. But printing QTR to matte paper with the EEM curves leads to washed blacks...Then I print to matte with Paul's curves and blacks are excellent again...
Any explanations?

Andre,
I'm assuming that you are using the QTR curves that I posted, but I'm afraid that I can't offer an obvious explanation. An important difference between the glossy and matte curves is that the glossy curves don't use the Eboni black in the K cartridge. I would say that maybe something is wrong with that cartridge (not printing, wrong ink), except that you seem to be able to get good results with Paul's curves. Could there be any other curve that is somehow being applied when you print?

Sorry that I can't be of more help.

David

I double checked it all, but all seems to be right. One ogf this mysteries...will try some other curves...In the glossy curves, what makes the deep blacks if not ebony?
