A couple basic questions regarding QTR_Quadtone RIP

2011-02-01 by Francis

Hello. I have a couple questions about QTR. I have never used it. I have an Epson 1400 and would like to try printing BO..

When using this software to print, do I have to make any adjustments to the Epson driver first?

Does the image to be printed with QTR have to be fully prepared first (cropped, sharpened)?

Is this a stand alone application?

Thank you very much. Any tips would also be kindly appreciated.

Francis

Windows or Macintosh? The printing process differs between the two.

On Windows machines the Epson driver is completely ignored, as is the
general Windows printing interface , and QTR acts as a separate
application (well, actually there's a separate application (qtrgui) that
you use to submit the image to the print driver). The image needs to be
cropped and sharpened beforehand. I don't know what inks and papers are
supported in the QTR distribution package for the Epson 1400, but I
would be surprised if curves were included for black only with the
standard Epson ink set. Most users would be using a third party inkset
designed for monochrome printing.

On macintosh machines, someone else will have to answer because I've no
idea.
