I am trying to print the ink separation page in QTR 2.6.2 on the Epson 7600 to test the Piezo special addition inks. I am printing in the calibration mode without changing the file from RGB to grayscale. I keep getting a very faint print that is not discernible. I have reinstalled QTR 2.6.2 for my OS 10.4.11 Tiger, and even uninstalled and reinstalled. I have successfully printed this in the past on the same 7600. I am printing at 100% with no advanced QTR adjustments. Can anyone give me some advise? Thanks

I also don't seem to do the right thing. Both on Epson 1400 and Epson P50 (=R280) I get a very dark BW print, no matter what I set to ink calibration. Both have the original Claria inkset. QTR 2.7.0.0 Also I get an 8 ink print, whereas both printers are 6 ink. I choose Quad1400 for the 1400 and quadr280 for the p50 as the qtr model. I'm new to this, so I do exactly like it says in the user's guide, alas no success yet. Thanks for any help Frank --- In QuadtoneRIP@yahoogroups.com, "jfammartino" <jfammartino@...> wrote:

There are different patches for 2.7.0.0 for both Windows and some versions of Mac-OS, so it would help if you could say which OS you are using. Also, the instructions for ink calibration are different for the two platforms. However, I doubt that the standard Claria inkset is usable with QTR (unless you create your own black only curves), as I think it only has one black ink. I was planning on using EB6 from MIS. The inkset is on its way. This is just an exercise to see how QTR works, although I wonder what went wrong. I would think that the page would come out looking like it shows in the User Guide. I'll just wait till the inks arrive. Thanks anyway. Frank

ink calibration doesn't work on Windows with QTR 2.7. You have to use 2.6.x for calibration printing. In that case its worth finding out what is wrong. If you're using a Windows PC, you will need a patch to 2.7 for a problem which does affect printing the calibration page. The patch is (or was) at http://www.quadtonerip.com/QTR2.7.0patch.zip I can't remember what the patch requirements are for Mac, but if you say what versions of PS and Mac OS you are using somebody can probably advise you about problems and workarounds (I don't use a Mac so I'm spared the colour management problems recent versions have caused) I don't know if it'll also fix the 8 ink lines problem - i've only ever used QTR with 4 and 8 ink printers.

thanks for the responses. I am using Mac OS 10.4.11 and still using PSD CS2 on this mac that runs the E 7600. I have printed the ink separation before using the other Peizo inks without any problem. Do you think that CS2 is not compatible with QTR 2.6.2? thanks, Joe --- In QuadtoneRIP@yahoogroups.com, Mike Finley <mike@...> wrote:
