Ink Order and Spongeless Carts

Ink Order and Spongeless Carts

2005-09-12 by Tom Husband

Does it matter what order the inks are in when using QTR and
spongeless carts? I'm about to receive some spongeless carts for a
1280 and will be filling them with UT2 and an FSN ink. The only
reason I can think that it might be important is if you're going to
modify an existing curve.

Thanks,

Tom

Hello Tom.

I don't know the answer to that, but it would seem if everyone uses
the same order; when a question concerning it came up it would be
easier to pinpoint the problem. Holding the dart with the outlets
that fit on the posts in the printhead facing you and on the bottom,
the order is from the left beginning with Yellow,Light Magenta,
Magenta, Light Cyan, Cyan (cyan is on the extreme right and Yellow
is on the extreme left in this case). I think it is customary to
fill with the lightest ink first (Yellow) and progress to the
darkest ink (Cyan). I hope I've made it clear enough.

Hi Johnny,

Standardizing makes sense and going from lightest to
darkest makes sense too. I was just thinking of
putting all the grays together and then the toners
together.
