Testing all inks in Epson R1800

Testing all inks in Epson R1800

2011-05-12 by oeolsson@enosis.net

I'm using MIS carbon black inks in my R1800. How do I print a test print to check all 8 positions. I thought it had to do with the PhotoShop file and printing in calibration mode or, am I totally mistaken. So far I've gotten nothing but gibberish (technical term). I should mention that I print from either Lightroom 3 or CS5. OS is latest Snow Leopard (10.6.7) on iMac.

Thanks,
Ola Olsson

Due to lack of a No Color Management in CS5, printing calib in CS5 is harder.
Assign sRGB to the target file, then print with PS manages color and sRGB as
the Print profile. (there's no way to do it in Lightroom)

Thanks Roy. I'm a bit confused though. The "assign profile" requester in CS5 allows me to specify "Don't color manage this document." Is this different from what you said? In any case I printed the inkseparation8.tif file from the curve design folder and also the inksep.psd file from the Eye-One folder according to your specs. At least I know the GLOP position is printing.

In Assign Profile the "Don't Manage" option means don't attach a
profile to the file
when you save it. While in PS the file will be treated as the
default working space
you set up in Color Settings... Really has no bearing on what
happens at print time.
