Rebirth of 2200

Rebirth of 2200

2011-06-21 by Gary

I have been using UC inks in my 2880 but I'd like to break out my 2200 and add MIS inks to enrich my BW images. I use Moab Entrada but I feel the need to have a bit more Pop or snap where the Entrada has a softness to it. I also need a paper with a substantial weight to use for my portfolio. Please make a suggestion on paper and ink combination for the 2200. I'll start by using it with my 2880 then move to the 2200. Is the same choice good for color?

Thanks,

Gary

In general, I don't think you can do better than a 2880 if both color and
B&W are the goal.

For dedicated B&W the 2200 is still a good machine if it's working well.
The MIS UT7 was the variable tone inkset I designed for it. Today for
maximum smoothness and longevity of the image, I'd probably go with 100%
carbon (Eboni-6) or, if more neutrality was needed, Eboni-4 Plus (see
http://www.paulroark.com/BW-Info/Eboni-4-Plus.pdf ), but that would require
some work by you to make profiles.

In short, there are a lot of variables.

Paul
