Linearize or Not?

Linearize or Not?

2011-09-06 by thusband2003

Will it make a big difference if I linearize the EB6-EpsHPn curve (or for that matter any other curve) to my 1400 printer? I'm very happy with the results so far but am just curious.

Also, what's the "T" designation in EB6-EpsHPn-T?

Thanks,

Tom Husband

If inksets, paper, printers, and spectros were all exactly uniform, it would
make no difference if you re-linearized the profile. Of course, none of
these things are perfect, but most find that they are within acceptable
tolerances. I might add that I was very pleasantly surprised when I
measured the draw down values of the last batch of MIS Eboni-6 I received.

On profiles with the "T" added I took half of the inks and put them into a
"toner" channel. This way there are more overlaps. For example, in the
lightest parts of the print, instead of just the 2% Eb6-Y firing, both it
and the Eb6-LM (6%) are operating. With the 1400 both of these inks are
dotless. The downside of this if you want the most neutral print is that
the change in Lab B goes from 1.5 for the standard profile to 2.3 for the
"T" profile. See the Notes tab in the profiles.

Hope this helps.
