Printing with no color management finally...

2011-09-30 by Andre

Hi guys.
Well, I've been trying to learn to profile QTR for my papers on the Mac, and came across couple of tutorial, like Paul Roark's and Michael Mather's. It all begins with printing an unmanaged ink pattern from QTR calibration mode. Couldn't do it from PS CS5, which was driving me nuts, as the pattern came out all wrong. I just found out this Adobe Color Printing Utility that can be downloaded from Adobe site for free, and that does just that. Am I the only one who didn't know about it, or is there a smarter way to do it?
best,
André

PS: When will a good soul make a video tutorial on this? It would sell like chips!

André

Can you tell us a full web address for this Adobe Color Printing utility? A search of the Adobe site did not reveal it to me.

Also, can you tell us more about it, what it is, and how it works?

Thanks,

Jim Thyer

It's here, and all it does is sending the file to the printer with a very sleek interface. Cool.

Andre

I have tried to use the ACPU on my Mac Pro with 10.6.8. It all behaves normally except that nothing gets printed (blank sheet of paper goes through R2400 or HP3600 printer), saved as a pdf file, or appears in preview. What version of OX S are you using? I have tried updating all my drivers.

Thanks

Hi Tiz,

I have just received an email from Roy Harrington saying that he has no profiles for the Epson R 3000 I am using OS X 10.6.8
I am currently trying to print on transparent film which has just got chewed up inside the printer. This is enough to make me go back to analogue.
Why is dgital so difficult?

ACPU will only print RGB tagged tifs. ACPU is useless for printing grayscale or untagged targets.

print from photoshop, have photoshop handle color, and use the same ICC profile as the target. if you are printing the gray gamma tagged 21 step, use gray gamma 2.2 as the output profile. this prints with no adjustment in color profiles.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
