Mouser has a "shaft hole adapter" (part #506-KR1), which slips inside a 1/4" knob and allows you to mount it on 1/8" shafts... very handy.

If you realy want to go for the Davies 1900 knobs, they are (or were)
available for 1/8" shafts.

Actually finding any in this size might be very difficult.
