SDX Pad types

SDX Pad types

2003-04-04 by jolly9111

Hello,

does anybody know, what the difference is between the SDX Hi-Hat Pad
and the "normal" SDX Cymbal Pads. I only know about the foot pedal
separately connected to the brain. But is there a difference to the
pad types? Or can I use a cymbal pad as a Hi-Hat Pad?
Thank you for an answer.

Julian

Julian,

There is no difference between the pads except that you can choke
the "symbaL" pads. I usually use a regular tom pad for my hi-hat. I
guess if you wanted to be able to choke your hi-hat, you could use a
symbal pad. They are tricky to mount if you don't have the supplied
pole that goes with them. I have 4 such pads but was never able to
get the factory hardware. FYI the bass pad is just a regular Simmons
piezo pad, but with grey rubber... Ask more if you need to!

Graham

Graham,

thank you for your explanation.
so there was never a hi-hat pad released by simmons?
except the bass pad they sold snare (with rim) type, tom type and
symbal type pads. is that correct?
so the brain is able to combine every pad input "channel" with the hi-
hat foot pedal?
thank you very much

Julian

Julian,

You can only have 1 "hihat" per kit that will work with the pedal- ,
but it can be any pad input except the bass input(1) and the snare
rim input (3).
