That (grounding) was my main original concern. Can someone confirm this one way or another? 

If the case is yes can I do that via the sixpaks or should I wire the grounds of the two power supplies directly?

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
