David, A big hurdle for any event is a suitable location and equipment. Do you have to pay for the location? If the cost is low, then just go ahead -- schedule it, and announce the dates -- followed by "stay tuned -- more information to come." This assures that interested people will get the dates on the calendar well in advance. Here are some decisions that you will make: . will the festival be free for attendees? . will performers be paid? All of them, some of them, or none of them? . is the festival's goal to attract as large a general audience as possible or is it more of an event for the participant/attendees? . How long will the festival be? (1 day, 2 days, etc.?) . will the festival be solely performances or will it include seminars and educational activities? . will you stream the event to the internet? . will the event be single-threaded or will there be concurrent activities? . will there be concessions? . will there be accomodations for out-of-town participants? Anyway, these are some of the issues you will grapple with. Quoting David V <porphyrous@...>: > Kevin, > > Excellent!
