Re: [SPELLBOUND-L] Re: Any loopers users there?

Hi brickblad (and other people at the list)

Yes, I met Pam 1 year ago and she recommended me the Line 6 DL4.
I saw her using 2 of them together to get 2 tape-loop-like devices working together like Robert Fripp did.
I loved it and that's why I purchased this looping machine. Of course, she also IS Pamelia, I am far away
to sound like her even having an arsenal of electronic devices.

BTW, isn't she by this list? Pam? :)

About sample storage: the Jamman has as much as you like to have...because it uses
Compact Flash cards. 128MB is the CF card that comes with it and allows you 24min.
I have already bought a 512MB one that will allow me to store up to 96 min of samples.
Instead of samples I am starting to get into full play-a-long songs tracks.

Another friend of mine (Arturo Cid) has the boomerang, but it was himself
who suggested me to buy the Jamman. It seems that the digitech one is
far away from the boomerang and for less price:
unlimited storage (if you buy more cards) and USB connection.

But I want to make the trick that Pam uses, and for that I will need another looping device together
with this. This time I will buy/construct a cheaper one. Any suggestions?

About tempo, each sample gets its own BPM measure. You can teoritecally change it only by changing
its XML file associated in the computer. More about that here:
http://blog.360.yahoo.com/blog-v0hXHKM0caS5twQf0dizb10-?cq=1&p=58

It is a little bit tricky, as you cannot start by setting a tempo numerically without a computer.
This, and the absence of a MIDI Sync are the big failures of this device.
Anyway, it seems as I have readen that the BOSS RC-20XL , its clone has this same problem.

Hi: I've been using a looping device; one of the functions of my
Line 6 DL4 Delay Modeller. But I suspect your Digitech Jamman does
better. The Line 6 loop function lasts only 14 seconds. How long can
YOU play before the loop starts?

Pamelia Kurstin also uses the Line 6 and she routinely creates
layered loops as part of her performances. I use it for that also.
  It's definitely fun to use.

A friend of mine purchased a device called the "Boomerang" on Ebay
for about 250 dollars ( the same price as the Line 6 ) and its
sampling function lasts for about three full minutes, then the loop
begins. I'd love to get one someday.

It seems that whatever the device, the toughest aspect is in the
timing -- being able to get everything in snych, and when necessary,
have the loop's ending match rhythmically with the beginning.

Does yours handle this in any specific way?
