Hi Rupert,

At electro-music.com members, such as yourself, can add entries to the
calendar and your event will show up in the event list on the front
page there. There are quite a few members in Maryland who would enjoy
such an event.

All the best...

Do you typically make soundboard recordings of your gigs?

The problem is you keep forgetting to wear your tinfoil beanie. Then
they can't read your thoughts and know that you're coming.

I never leave home without mine. :-)

david,

hi, no, i generally just record with the video
camera's onboard mic. my new camera has a fairly good
mic. i have made recordings with direct signal from my
mixer but only in my basement.

the upcoming gig with art has to be done from the
camera since art goes through his own amp seperate
from my mixer.

we don't have anything like a real sound man or
anything, just my berhinger driving to 15" eons and
art driving a 15" eon direct.

i plan to video tape the show and put some up on the
web.

david,

tinfoil does no good!

i tell you that it is a vast international conspiracy.

i have read what charlie d has said about me.

i have read what the spaniards have written about me

i have read what JS has sent around the web about me.

i have seen jason delete threads about me.

and i have a psychopathic usaid troll named alexander
mahoney stalking me locally - he is the guy that
trolled thereminworld last fall. (he looks like sylar
on heroes and his name being in prison break was no
coincidence)

no, the tinfoil does nothing against the likes of
this!

and as for levnet, if only they had the generosity and
milk of human kindness that exudes forthrightly from
simon cowell, then perhaps i should have been still
posting there.

had i known that playing theremin would get me into
this i would have bought a kazoo instead.

well, when you are at the top of the game, you have to
expect a little flak.

wink wink,

rupert

I don't feel as though I really "fit in" with Levnet. I reached a
point where it seemed best to move on.

If I sincerely believed that cruel (Simon Cowell) style criticism
would elevate people's musicianship and promote theremin-playing, then
I'd snipe with the best of 'em!

I don't get much flak, so I guess I've got a ways to go.

When schlepping my PA system around, I am present to similar thoughts.

at least mr. cowell acknowledges your presence.

yeah, i think that charles lester still plays better
than you so you probably have a year or so to go. that
is, assuming that you keep practicing.

I never practice either.

I play, noodle, experiment, explore, extemporise, hone and rehearse.

sorry gordon, but "noodle, experiment, explore,
extemporise,
> hone and rehearse." - that all sounds like practice
to me.

i only do it when i am rolling video tape or have an
audience.

i don't know where you get all the energy to do all
that other stuff.

i prefer to limit my exposure to the theremins etheric
field to only once or perhaps twice a month to
maintain an even keel and youthful glow. for i know
what happens when one lingers too long and too often
at the font of all frequencies.

perhaps once a month is too much. but once you start
chasing the gliss how can one be certain of anything.
those notes between the notes, the ones which are not
supposed to be heard, those that pull at the very
fabric of time and space, they compel, the pull and
they bend the very flesh of my phalanges whilst
playing the etheric horror pulling the music from
realms best left unheard and unspoken of but none of
us can be blamed for we are but channels for that
which has to form or substance yet from which form and
substance issues from the both the monopole and the
dipole.

if the kazoo was only as sanitary as the theremin.

life seldom gives us easy choices.

For me, "practice" has connotations of repetitive drill exercises,
which would bore the pants off me and drive me away from the theremin
instantly. Rather, I use my theremin to therapeutic ends, to enter a
meditative state where my body and mind are relaxed but focused. And
to have fun and develop at the same time.

A healthy, varied diet and wearing boxing gloves in bed.

Also relaxing doesn't require too much energy.

Thank you. To summarise, if you play too long it can alter your sense
of pitch and you turn into a sort of demonic Harry Partch?

Throbbing Gristle did that to me in 1978. I am quite beyond
redemption, and utterly unrepentant.
