Hi Philip,

If you had some video it would be a little easier to offer some
specific pointers.

Your sense of pitch is very good -- really good -- noticeably better
since you started. You are hitting the notes and now you can focus on
musical aspects. Congratulations!

Here are a few things for you to consider:

1) Add a very slight amount of reverb to your theremin track --
doesn't have to be noticeable -- maybe just 1/2 second reverb time.

2) roll off a little of the bass end of your theremin track --
remember, you want it to "sing thru" the accompianment rather than
"sing over" it.

3) If you can, transpose the key upwards -- say instead of B-flat try
D. The tenor register of the theremin is tough -- a few folks, such
as Barbara Bucholz and Kip Rosser are comfortable in that range. You
may like the result better in a somewhat higher key.

4) Experiment with a faster vibrato. Listen to Pamelia Kurstin's and
Robbie Virus's vibrato -- see if you can get closer to that.

5) Try for more dynamic control with your volume hand. Particularly
at the end of phrases -- let the tone taper off. Listen to Masami
Takeuchi -- he has some nice dynamic shaping that isn't really too
hard to do.

Nice web page! Enjoyed reading about you and your theremin
involvement. Good luck on you Keppinger project.

Your friend in the ether,

Kevin
