Hi Mike,
The EPS16+ is a very clean sounding machine, if you want grit you should look at its predecessor, the Ensoniq EPS. The EPS16+ and the ASR10 sound very similar and give you back pretty much what you put in. I've had all three machines but now just use the EPS because it gives you a nice crunchy sound but not as crunchy as say an EMU Emax.

talk about really, the grit. I can't hear any in the s1000 (well, I got the
s1100 but should be simular) you don't really associate grit with the
16bitters.
