I am now the frustrated owner of an S1100 sampler, bought off eBay with two or thrre Plextor CD-Dom drives and a ZIP drive. The machine came with a full complement of ram, the latest ROMs installed as well as the latest OS on a floppy. Like an idiot I was sick of booting it from the floppy, thinking the ROM OS was an older version, bought a set of ROMs off eBay, so I now have a spare set. The sampler will read files off one of the ZIP disks, so that is working, after a fashion, however it will not format ZIP disks. When I try, it will sit there as if it is formatting, for hours, until I turn it off. I gave up trying to get disk s formatted, went on line to buy an external SCSI hard drive to use for storage. Same problem, I cannot format it, same problem, disk not ready, various refusals to ARRange or Format the disk. So I still have a sampler which hates all things disk shaped. SCSI on the drive is set to 5, sampler defiaults to 6, tried with and without a terminator. Help! Or, Want to buy a sampler which won't play with disks?
