Akai S1000 / S1100 samplers

Hi guys.

I am looking into the history of important samplers at the moment, and 
I just can't seem to find ANY info on the invention of the S1000. Do 
ANY of you know ANY names involved in the making of the S1000 ?

Any info would be greatly appreciated !
