Hi Kenneth,

The Keyfax Omnibus Edition of Julian Colbeck mentions that the S1000 
has been designed by David Cockerell, H. Takemura and Chris Huggett. 
The first two of these people were also chief designer of the S900 
and the S950. Cockerell was also the designer of the S612; in fact he 
was the "lead architect" of the early Akai S line. 
Additional info on the S1000, as mentioned in the same book:
- number of units sold: 22,000
- production run: 1988->1993
