The files for the eproms are image-files.
S-1100 OS is not for S-1000
S-1100 is a complete different beast,- the best one IMO.
It sounds better because of the different converter boards incl. Burr-Brown converters for every single out and the both main outs L & R.
S-1000 multiplexes the single outs from the main outs, so a S-1000 has 2 converters only instead of 10 in the S-1100.
The S-1100 offers a AES/EBU digital main-out in addition to the ones of the optional IB-104 card.
S-1100 reads SMPTE and creates cue lists,- fires samples from cue list entrys while reading SMPTE.
If you compare the digital mainboard of a S-1000 and a S-1100, you´ll see these are different too.
It´s not only the FX-board which makes the difference between S-1100 and S-1000 !
So, NO S-1100 OS works in S-1000.
A floppy disk w/ higher OS inserted in the disk drive overrides the OS in the ROM temporary.
If you don´t want to change the eproms by what reason ever and if you use a SCSI harddrive, make sure you copy the latest OS ( which you actually use w/ floppy disk) to that harddrive.
If the drive is running while powering up the S-1000 already, the sampler reads the higher OS from the harddrive ( if recognized) and the older OS is overridden also in this case.
If you use several drives and exchange these occasionally, copy the OS to every harddrive.

The 4.4 Files i already have on my Harddisk. Therefrom i make the OS Disk.
I'm not to be able burn Eprom's. But, with no working S1000 im not Interested to do this (Pay Money or spend Time).
With the Rom's i mean, the two Chip's are labeled with different Gear Types, S1000 & S1100. If this an Problem? The 1100 have an Effect Unit, the S1000 not. So i Think, it's possible the Sound Probs are came from there. The OS attempt to Manage the DSP etc.?
But do the OS from Disk override all Eprom Data?
